Lake Erie Wine Country Trail to Host Wine & Cheese Weekend
Lake Erie Wine Country will kick-off the 2016 season with their annual Wine & Cheese Weekend event on April 22, 23, and 24. Ticket holders will be able to visit the 23 participating wineries where they will enjoy a special wine and cheese food pairings created with exquisite Yancey's Fancy cheeses. Each ticket includes a complimentary souvenir wine glass, food and wine pairing sample at each winery which includes additional wine tastes, recipe booklet, $5 wine trail voucher and a special gift.
Each winery will be serving a diverse and delicious array of food offerings for this year's event that ranges from a Smoked Gouda Bacon Cheese Balls, Fruit Sushi, and Beer Cheese Fondue. Merritt Winery will be serving a savory sample of creamy chicken and bacon pasta with artichoke hearts and spinach over penne paired with a light and crisp Pinot Grigio.
Tickets are now on sale for the Wine & Cheese Weekend for $35 per person. One ticket is good for all three days. If a person cannot participate all three days, the wine trail does offer a Friday and/or Sunday wine and cheese ticket for $31 per person. This entitles ticket holders to enjoy all of the benefits of the event on Friday and/or Sunday only. The Lake Erie Wine Country also offers a designated driver ticket that is available for only $20 for the weekend that includes all the benefits of the event excluding the wine tastings. Each winery does offer a non-alcholic beverages for the designated drivers.
Wine and Cheese Weekend tickets can be purchased online at www.lakeeriewinecountry.org before Wednesday, April 20 at 8:00 AM. Tickets are usually sold-out before this deadline, so advanced purchase is necessary.

Wine & Cheese Weekend will kick-off a busy 2016 tourist season in the region. Throughout the summer, the 24 individual wineries will host their own special events that include free concerts in the vineyards, vineyard walks, festivals, winemaker's dinners and other exciting event offerings. "There is a multitude of fun and interesting activities at our wineries all spring and summer," says Julie Ellis, Executive Director of Lake Erie Wine Country.
