FORESTVILLE, NY (April 14, 2011) - The America's Grape Country Wine Festival has grown in size and reputation as the committee to the event continues to come up with new and inventive ideas to make the festival bigger and better with each passing year. This year, the event will take the biggest leap forward to date as the committee announces Billboard Top 100 and Atlantic Records recording artist Uncle Kracker as headliner for this year's festival.
The 2011 AGC Wine Festival is scheduled for August 13 and 14 at the Chautauqua County Fairgrounds in Dunkirk, NY. The event will be held on Saturday from 12pm to 7pm and on Sunday from 12pm to 5pm. The headlining concert will take place at 7pm on Sunday. Live music, educational seminars and local crafters and artisans will be featured all weekend at the festival.
With over 15 years in the limelight of the music industry, Uncle Kracker has earned the respect and admiration of music lovers around the world with his down to earth lyrics and carefree demeanor. His innovative mix of pop, country and rock music generates a wide fan base and makes him relatable to an international audience.
Uncle Kracker's first solo album, double-platinum-selling "Double Wide", was released in 2000 and peaked at number seven on the Billboard Top 200. The album produced the hit single "Follow Me", branding Uncle Kracker with the soulful acoustic sound that would prove to start a revolution in the music world. His second album, "No Stranger to Shame", generated another hit single for the singer/songwriter. "Drift Away", a cover version of Dobie Gray's classic, reached number 10 on the Billboard Top 100 and set a record for most weeks atop the Adult Contemporary chart.
In 2004, Uncle Kracker released his third album, "Seventy Two and Sunny", showcasing an ingenious mixture of pop, rock, country, soul, blues and doo-wop styles. "Happy Hour", Uncle Kracker's most recent release, is an album much different from the others. The hilarious, soulful, feel-good content of songs like "Smile" and "Good To Be Me" is balanced with a sense of satirical comedy in songs about past relationships and contemplation in lyrics detailing the current economic depression. The work defines the many roles that the artist has played over a lifetime, and proves his creative expertise.
"Hosting a concert of this magnitude is a tremendous opportunity to highlight Chautauqua County as a destination this summer," said Edwin Rodriguez, Marketing and Promotions person for the ACG Wine Festival. "Uncle Kracker is one of the largest acts to come through our area in several years, and we are both excited and anxious to host a show of this size with such a well respected artist."
Hometown celebrity Sean Patrick McGraw will be opening for Uncle Kracker. The local country crooner landed a spot on the 2009 "America's Toughest Tour", opening over 20 dates for Toby Keith and Trace Adkins. He has also shared the stage as opening act for Jason Aldean, Luke Bryan, Patty Loveless, Pat Green and Miranda Lambert. Although he continues to climb in popularity in the country music world, McGraw stays close to his roots as he performs at many events in the Chautauqua County area each summer.
