Merritt Winery Will Sponsor Roswell Park Event in 2010 - December 29, 2009
FORESTVILLE, N.Y. (December 10, 2009) – Merritt Estate Winery will join the Roswell Park Cancer Institute in January to sponsor the third annual Denim and Diamonds fundraising event. Denim and Diamonds was created to support ongoing Cancer research and patient care at RPCI.
The third annual Denim and Diamonds event will take place on January 29, 2010 in Asbury Hall in downtown Buffalo. The event begins at 6:00 p.m.
Denim and Diamonds is a unique fundraising gala. Many similar events in the Buffalo area are extremely formal and require suits, ties, ball gowns and cocktail dresses. Denim and Diamonds is formatted around a casual atmosphere where attendees can dress down in “street clothes” but still participate in a tremendous event with a lot of impact. This is Merritt Estate Winery’s first year sponsoring Denim and Diamonds.
“We came up with this gala to target a younger crowd,” said Mary Rose McDermott, event coordinator from Roswell, “and we encourage people to wear diamonds from their personal collections. This gives an elegant edge to a casual evening.”
Previously, the event was held in the summertime at the Mary Seaton Room and the battleship in the harbor of downtown Buffalo. For 2010, the event has been scheduled to take place in the winter to avoid competing events. Ani DeFranco’s Asbury Hall is the new location for the event. It gives an indoor refuge from the harsh winter weather, is located right on Delaware Avenue in downtown Buffalo and has all the amenities needed to host a large function.
“Merritt will be donating all of the wine for the evening at Denim and Diamonds,” said Jason C. Merritt, General Manager of Merritt Estate Winery. “The event features various food stations, beer and wine all night,” said Merritt. Merritt wines will be the only wine products available throughout the night during the open bar and cash bar reception.
This is the first major sponsorship Merritt Estate Winery will participate in for 2010. Through 2009, the winery participated in seven major event sponsorships in the Western New York area.
Tickets for Denim and Diamonds are $100 per person or $175 per couple. Tickets can be purchased on the foundation’s Web site at www.roswellpark.org
